Andreas Bode Company

The andreas bode company was invited by Theater an der Wien, Vienna, to adapt L'ORFEO for the location Semperdepot. This adaptation focuses on dealing with a completely new space, which resembles rather a cathedral than an industrial site.

An early planning and the professional approach to the complicated space by the technical staff of Theater an der Wien helped to make the encounter of an institutional theater and an independent company to become a success. L'ORFEO is lead to a new concentration in this space, and three and a half years after the opening, it has been developed to a new artistic quality. The day after the opening in Vienna the Wiener Standard wrote: “This production ventures a lot, and gains almost as much, so that what remains in the end are blessed senses and red hands from the applause.” All shows were sold out.  

Die andreas bode company wurde vom Theater an der Wien eingeladen, ihre Produktion L’ORFEO von 2006/2007 für das Semperdepot zu adaptieren. Die Herausforderung dieser Adaption war die gänzlich neue Raumstruktur – weg von einer Industriehalle hin zu einer "Kathedrale".

Die frühzeitige Planung sowie die Expertise vor Ort ließ das Experiment der Zusammenkunft eines institutionellen Hauses und einer freien Company gelingen. L’ORFEO verdichtet sich in diesem Raum und findet gut drei Jahre nach der Erstaufführung in dieser Wien-Produktion zu einer neuen, gereiften Qualität. Der Erfolg lässt sich auch an den überwiegend positiven Kritiken der Wiener Presse und an einem enormen Publikumszuspruch messen. Der Wiener Standard resümiert: „Es wird hier viel gewagt und fast genau so viel gewonnen, sodass am Ende des Abends beglückte Sinne und klatschrote Hände bleiben.“ Alle vier Vorstellungen waren ausverkauft.
